Quebec gemstones

Interest in gemstones from Quebec is very recent. First extracted sporadically by prospectors or mineral collectors who used artisanal mining methods, they only recently appeared on the jewelry market.

Despite the fact that the geological contexts favorable to the formation of gemstones are rare in Quebec, Mr. André Gagnon, lapidary of Quebec, undertook in 1994 research in the mining archives, collections of minerals and available geological reports.

Following the discovery of several sites of interest, he organized numerous expeditions aimed at extracting the minerals which seemed the most promising for stone cutting and subsequently offering them to jewelry craftsmen.

Eudyalite is a Zirconium Silicate. It is found in Lake Sheffield in Témiscamingue in the Rare Earth deposits associated with the Kipawa Complex. Its extraordinary color and exceptional quality remind us of the Ruby.
